CAPE DUTCH HOME
Groundbreaking
Cape Dutch architecture, unique to the Western Cape region of South Africa, is renowned for its distinctive gables featuring a pronounced curve at the apex, and by the use of thick, whitewashed walls. This architectural style, which emerged in the 17th and 18th centuries, was largely shaped by Dutch settlers and exhibits influences from various other European architectural traditions, including Dutch, French, and German. The Cape Dutch house is a quintessential example of this style and has become a symbol of South Africa's history and cultural identity. It was therefore no surprise that our clients with South African roots decided to build a new home on Long Island in this iconic style. |
