Set along the shores of Long Island Sound, this Shingle-style residence was designed for a young family seeking both the ease of informal living and the generosity to entertain. The house presents a traditional face to the street and unfolds toward the water through a long enfilade of den, breakfast room, kitchen, dining, and living spaces. Oriented to gather southern light and expansive northern views, the sequence culminates in a vaulted loggia overlooking the waters of the pool and Sound, creating a graceful continuum between family life, landscape, and horizon.
The front façade of this Lloyd Harbor waterfront home uses dormers, shutters, a cupola, and a centered entry to create a composed Shingle-style presence. The exterior gives the residence a traditional neighborhood character while the interiors open toward a more contemporary family plan.
This living room detail shows the softer side of the Lloyd Harbor residence, with pale upholstery, tall windows, and a garden connection. The interior supports modern family living while retaining the refined detailing of a traditional Shingle-style home.
This breakfast area opens through arched black French doors toward the pool deck, lounge chairs, and Long Island Sound. The image captures the project’s emphasis on indoor-outdoor living and the daily rituals of a waterfront family home.
The stair hall pairs traditional detailing with a clean coastal palette, using white balusters, dark handrails, and carefully framed views into adjoining rooms. It helps organize circulation through the Lloyd Harbor residence while maintaining a sense of warmth and domestic scale.
This vaulted family space forms a bridge between the interior great room and the outdoor living sequence. Its arched ceiling, black lantern, and tall doors frame the pool terrace and water views, reinforcing the residence’s open relationship to the shoreline.
The waterfront loggia provides a shaded outdoor room for dining and gathering, with a vaulted ceiling, columns, and views across the pool terrace to the Long Island Sound. It extends the family’s living space outdoors while preserving the classical language of the Shingle-style residence.
We collaborated with interior designer Ronal Fenstermacher on the furnishings for this home.
