A savvy renovation is one executed with true sensitivity. When purchased, as part of a Long Island Estate expansion, this 1930s mission style carriage house had lost much of its original charm to neglect and a multitude of heavy-handed renovations. Peeling back layers of unfortunate modifications we carefully revealed whimsical details and true charm. This along with some skillful restoration and carefully integrated modern amenities yielded the ideal habitat for a smart, stylish, comfortable artist studio and guest house. Thoughtful nuanced coordination with materials and elements from throughout the Estate also allowed for a distinct architectural personality while retaining a thread of familiar Estate character.
